Ames Rebounds for Top Ten Finish at Historic Dixie!
The Dylan Ames Racing team traveled to the historic Dixie Speedway
in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday night, August 28 for a $1,500
to win Crate Late Model special event! Dylan Ames only got to
complete about two hot laps before another competitor wrecked
and the rest of the hot lap session was spent cleaning up the
track. In his first-ever visit to Dixie, Dylan returned to the
track to qualify fourteenth fastest of the twenty-one entrants.
In the main event, Dylan rolled off from the outside
of the seventh row and made his way up to the seventh position
after dodging several incidents. Late in the race, he was eventually
spun from behind and had to go to the tail of the field. Despite
a right front tire going flat in the waning laps, Dylan was
still able to wheel his #77a Rocket racecar back up to the ninth
spot, which is where he ultimately finished.
Dylan Ames Racing is looking forward to Whynot
and Magnolia this upcoming weekend – hopefully a little
more racing and a lot less beating and banging!

Dylan Ames Finished 3rd at Talladega Short Track!
After taking a 2 week break from racing, Dylan Ames Racing Team
headed to the Hornet's Nest of Talladega Short Track Saturday
night. The Georgia Mini Sprint group was running as well, so
the team was excited to meet up with a lot of the old quarter
midget and mini sprint friends we ran with in the past.
The team arrived at the track on Saturday afternoon
with racing to begin at 7:00. The track was extremely slimy
during hot laps and took a long time to get turn 4 where people
could make it through without slapping the wall. Once the track
was run in, the track was tacky and fast during heat races.
Ames started 9th out of 9 cars in his 8 lap heat race. Ames
dodged a spinning car on lap 1 that could have ended our night.
On the restart Ames headed to the front passing cars each lap.
Ames passed 3 cars on lap 4 of the race and later worked his
way to 4th with 1 lap to go. On the final lap, Dylan was passing
the #32 on the high side when they made light contact making
the #32 to spin. Ames went on to finish the heat race 3rd. This
would set his starting position in 5th of the 19 car field for
the feature.
The feature was eventful to say the least. After
attempting to start the race 3 times double file, officials
decided to start single file to see if they could complete a
lap without a caution. Once the race got started, Ames again
went to work on getting to the front. Ames ran the high side
again and was able to make his way to 2nd with 5 to go. The
race was full of cautions and restarts but Ames did a great
job and was able to finish 3rd out of 19 at the Hornet's Nest.
The team was very excited about how well Dylan drove and handled
the car at a tough race track, especially starting from the
rear of the heat race.
Dylan Ames Racing will be headed to Dixie Speedway
this Saturday for a $1500 to win Crate race and then to a couple
NeSmith events at Whynot for $5K and Magnolia Speedway for $2k
in Mississippi on Labor Day weekend.

Dylan
Ames and his #77a team decided to stay close to home last weekend
to test out our new crate motor. We ran our Crate Late Model
with the Late Model Stocks at the North Alabama Speedway in
Tuscumbia, Alabama on Friday night, July 30. Dylan qualified
sixth and was running fourth in the feature, but had to pull
off due to the engine temperature getting too high. Dylan finished
sixth out of the eleven cars present at NAS.
On Saturday night, we again ran our Crate Late
Model with the Late Model Stocks at the Moulton Speedway in
Moulton, Alabama. Dylan did a great job of qualifying third
out of twelve competitors and finished the feature in the fourth
spot.
The Dylan Ames Racing team will be taking the
next two weekends off on vacation, so our next race will be
on August 21 at the Talladega Short Track!
JULY 26, 2010
The Dylan Ames Racing team pulled into the pit area at the North
Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama on Friday night, July
23 looking to build on momentum from the prior weekend. Unfortunately,
the #77a blew a head gasket in hot laps and Dylan Ames was unable
to race over the weekend. Next up for the team will be a trip
to the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi this
Saturday evening, July 31.
JULY 19, 2010
We were headed to the North Alabama Speedway on Friday, July
16 when they called it for rain, so we headed to the Boyd's
Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia instead. The car was not set-up
for Boyd’s and to make matters worse, the inch of slop
in the pit area from the rain shower made adjustments very difficult.
The track was extremely tacky and we were too tight in the heat
race and finished 5th. Dylan started the feature 9th and finished
9th out of a 27 car field. Overall, a night of difficult conditions
with Dylan doing the best he could with the car he had.
Sunday, July 18 was the rain make-up date for
the North Alabama rainout. We qualified 2nd out of 9 and started
the feature on the outside pole. The #1 of Johnny “Dr
Dirt” Stokes was on the pole and slid up in front of Dylan
in the center of turn 1&2 on the opening lap. Dylan was
in 2nd and started searching for different ways to catch the
#1. On lap 13, Ames hit on a line that allowed him to pull under
the #1 several times coming off the corner, but was unable to
complete the pass. The car handled great and Dylan showed how
much he has learned these past months with a great 2nd place
finish, pressuring one of the veterans of the sport.
Dylan is really excited at how well his #77a Rocket
is running – a win is close! The team is headed back to
North Alabama on Friday night to contend with “Dr Dirt”
again and then to Moulton on Saturday to see what we have for
the late model stocks.
