JULY 26, 2010
The
Dylan Ames Racing team pulled into the pit area at the North
Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama on Friday night, July
23 looking to build on momentum from the prior weekend. Unfortunately,
the #77a blew a head gasket in hot laps and Dylan Ames was unable
to race over the weekend. Next up for the team will be a trip
to the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi this
Saturday evening, July 31.
JULY 19, 2010
We were headed to the North Alabama Speedway on Friday, July
16 when they called it for rain, so we headed to the Boyd's
Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia instead. The car was not set-up
for Boyd’s and to make matters worse, the inch of slop
in the pit area from the rain shower made adjustments very difficult.
The track was extremely tacky and we were too tight in the heat
race and finished 5th. Dylan started the feature 9th and finished
9th out of a 27 car field. Overall, a night of difficult conditions
with Dylan doing the best he could with the car he had.
Sunday, July 18 was the rain make-up date for
the North Alabama rainout. We qualified 2nd out of 9 and started
the feature on the outside pole. The #1 of Johnny “Dr
Dirt” Stokes was on the pole and slid up in front of Dylan
in the center of turn 1&2 on the opening lap. Dylan was
in 2nd and started searching for different ways to catch the
#1. On lap 13, Ames hit on a line that allowed him to pull under
the #1 several times coming off the corner, but was unable to
complete the pass. The car handled great and Dylan showed how
much he has learned these past months with a great 2nd place
finish, pressuring one of the veterans of the sport.
Dylan is really excited at how well his #77a Rocket
is running – a win is close! The team is headed back to
North Alabama on Friday night to contend with “Dr Dirt”
again and then to Moulton on Saturday to see what we have for
the late model stocks.
JULY 12, 2010
Dylan
Ames Racing had a great time at the Magnolia Motor Speedway
in Columbus, Mississippi running 2 seperate Crate Late Model
races, while the Lucas Oil guys went for $20,000. The Dylan
Ames Racing team arrived Thursday night, July 8 for practice.
We made 3 practice runs before breaking a power steering belt.
We were glad that we came to practice, so it broke prior to
race day giving us time to get it replaced.
On Friday, the team got the belt installed and
got ready for the first night of racing. Dylan did a good job
qualifying 6th out of 27 cars. Dylan started 6th in the feature
and contended with a slick race track to finish 9th. The biggest
development of the weekend was that Dale McDowell and Tommy
Grecco from Clint Bowyer Racing watched the car during the feature
and figured out the handling problem we have had since March.
The team spent Saturday morning fixing the issues found with
the setup and were excited about Saturday night's race to come.
On Saturday, Ames drew 27th of 33 for qualifying.
The track was almost completely blown off by the time Dylan
qualified, but he was still able to go out and qualify 9th out
of 33. Dylan started the feature 9th and headed toward the front.
With 18 of 20 laps complete, Ames had the 77 in 4th and ready
for more. On the restart, Ames got under the #22 for 3rd, but
was pinched into the tire barrier and Ames lost a couple spots
to finished 7th on the night.
The team was happy with all of the lessons learned
and two solid finishes from the trip to Magnolia Motor Speedway.
Dylan Ames Racing is excited to get the car back on the track
now that the racecar handles the way it is supposed to. The
#77a team is headed to the North Alabama Speedway this Friday
night to see how we stack up!
JULY 5, 2010
Harvest, Alabama native Dylan Ames entered a pair of events
over the busy 4th of July holiday weekend. On Friday night at
the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia, Dylan unfortunately
got wrecked during heat race action and missed out on the $1,000
to win main event. After a long night of repairing the racecar,
the #77a team ventured to the Moulton Speedway in Moulton, Alabama
on Saturday evening. Dylan qualified third quickest and later
wound up sixth in the final rundown of the A-Main, which took
place on a rubbered-up, one-lane racetrack.
JUNE 28, 2010
The Dylan Ames Racing team traveled to the Whynot Motorsports
Park in Meridian, Mississippi over the June 25-26 weekend for
a pair of NeSmith Crate Late Model Series showdowns. On Friday
night, Dylan Ames timed in twenty-first fastest in qualifying
and later ran sixth in his heat race and seventh in his B-Main.
Unfortunately, he was not able to transfer into the $2,000 to
win feature event. In the $2,500 to win program on Saturday
evening, Dylan once again missed out on the A-Main after qualifying
twenty-sixth quickest and finishing seventh in both his heat
race and his consolation event.
JUNE 21, 2010
Dylan Ames and his #77a team competed in one lone event over
the busy Fathers Day weekend. On Friday night, June 18, the
Dylan Ames Racing team was in action at the North Alabama Speedway
in Tuscumbia, Alabama. After qualifying sixth fastest in time
trials at NAS, Dylan's car was too tight for the tacky track
conditions in the feature event. Despite a tight racecar, he
still salvaged a respectable fifth place finish.
